About the Mission
The Holy See is the central governing body of the global Roman Catholic Church and a sovereign entity under international law. Led by the Pope (the Bishop of Rome), it exercises jurisdiction over the Latin Church and 23 Eastern Catholic Churches sui iuris, encompassing over 1.3 billion baptized members worldwide. It directs administrative, spiritual, and diplomatic initiatives through the Roman Curia.
